Autoshow
I went to the Autoshow at BC Place Stadium today and saw some cars I wanted to see. The ones I liked the most include the Ferrari F430, 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse, Ford GT, Lexus LF-X Concept, Mazda RX-8, Acura RSX Type-S, Acura NSX, Nissan 350Z, Toyota Prius, Honda Ridgeline, Mercedes-Benz SL 500 AMG, Hummer H3, and Smart ForTwo. While at the Smart booth, I talked to a lovely spokeswoman about the small compact car. I was mainly concerned with its safety and she told me that it got a 5 star rating. That's pretty amazing for a little car. She said that the core of the car is its high-strength tridion safety cell. It's essentially one unit that distributes force evenly in the event of an impact and the cell is 300% stronger than steel. The ForTwo has a governed top speed of 135 km/h and drives at 120 km/h smoothly. It gets 61 mpg in the city and 71 mpg on the highway. It also has four airbags to protect the driver.
The woman then asked me if I wanted to test drive the Smart car and I was like wha?? Drive it? Here? How? She said that I just have to sign a waiver and a guy in a Mercedes-Benz SUV will shuttle me to Science World where they a have a race track setup in the parking lot. I thought she was kidding, but then I said sure! So I got to sit in this nice brand new SUV and drive the ForTwo around a race track. It was really fun! The car felt like I was driving a go-cart. It has great handling and I was able to take corners hard at a high rate of speed. I don't think I would ever buy it, but if I lived in the city it would be convenient to have. I would be able to park anywhere and save on gas (seeing that gas prices are way high).
The car I would most likely buy is the Acura RSX. It's sporty and looks cool. I also like the Toyota Prius that has hybrid technology (combined gas and electric motors). It gives you great mileage and it's like driving a vehicle from the future with it's digital guages, computer screen, and one button to start the engine. The modern car is just as much about the experience as it is getting you to places.
Peace.

I realize that I know nothing about cars in general, but that thing looks weird, like it's from outerspace. I guess my ol' Tercel isn't the weirdest looking thing after all! :) Cool that you got to test drive it.
I think those smartcars are cool! That's awesome that you got to drive one...must have been weird. I wouldn't have believed that lady either. Later dude.
After driving the RSX for a few months I would recommend it. Handles really nicely - especially on the Hope-Princeton Highway 3 because you don't have to slow down for the corners. The interior is well designed, easy and intuitive operation of everything. The things that I don't like is that when you have the defog on the air conditioning comes on automatically and you can't turn it off without the defog turning off. It doesn't make the car cool, I just don't like the smell of airconditioning when its wet outside. The other thing is that I drove an automatic and the response when you stomp the pedal is delayed, among other things I don't like about automatics. However this automatic is smart and when you're going down a hill and braking, it will shift down a gear to help use the engine to brake. So, Arnold, there is my opinion of the RSX, although this is a 2002.
Those smart cars look like the ultimate geek cars! :D I think I'd like one. Hehe.
